I know where one’s stored, it’s kinda cool. The owner would probably sell it for like, 7500, last I asked. Suspension is super soft. Rocks a lot but I don’t think it’d flip unless you tried. As far as I know the Top Gear segment was rigged to make em flip.

And Polaris Slingshot drivers, which are far more likely to frequent such an expensive looking place.
And Bond Bug drivers come to think of it. They really didn’t think this through, did they?
Reminds me of one of those driveways with a grass cutout down the middle near me, except there are two side by side and there is a wall on either side so it would be way easier to drive down a solid concrete slab.

And Venderhall, and Morgan 3-wheelers, for which I am actually sad because the Slingshot is an abomination.

I see a whole bunch of Slingshots driving around downtown Atlanta. Like, a suspiciously large number.

Yeah , it was rigged. In reality, under normal driving circumstances they shouldn’t flip, and even if you do give it the beans through a corner and one wheel lifts, it has an open differential so all the power will go to that wheel and the car will slow down. They are still much easier to flip than normal cars, but as long as you’re not speed-racer-ing everywhere and you’re aware of its three-wheeledness, you can easily avoid flipping the car. But a large part of the market they appealed to back in the day was exactly the sort of person who would drive it that crazily, which is why they ended up with that flipping reputation.

Or Morgan Th ree-wheeler drivers. Or Peel P50s... Actually, I think the Peel would be able to just drive up on one side or the other, so it’d be fine. Nevertheless, the infrastructure is very discriminatory against three-wheelers. I dem and change!

The Slingshot is a three-wheeler styled like a motorcycle, which is dumb because motorcycles are styled like motorcycles because they have to be, not because that style looks good. When you have three wheels, you can afford the luxury of car-like styling. It doesn’t have to be an over-styled, edgy, angular mess. But Polaris did so anyway.

Ah, the fun of welded differentials, differently sized wheels left and right, and added weights ;)

But overstyled angular mess sells! Seriously, these things are extremely popular and have a lot of overlap in appeal with the superbike crowd that liked to terrorize downtown. Then again, dirt bikes, Polaris RZRs, and random ATVs also are common sights speeding recklessly through downtown. Beats me where they store these vehicles but they’re all over the place.

I guess because it looks “aggressive”. Ugh. But you can still make an aggressive-looking vehicle that isn’t ugly. Just look at the ‘68 Dodge Charger! That’s one of the most menacing-looking vehicles ever made, and it has such a clean and elegant design! But of course, designing something like that actually takes effort, so... angular messes for everybody.

I’ve only once featured a Slingshot in a DOTS and I took a picture because it was the first one I’d seen in a while that wasn’t modified with neon and stupid big wheels. That pretty much says it all.
Are they cool? Of course. Would I buy one? Not unless it was very cheap. Do they attract the sort of driver who covers them with neon and does stoplight pulls late into the night while blasting loud music? yes.

even if you do give it the beans through a corner and one wheel lifts, it has an open differential so all the power will go t o that wheel and the car will slow down.
Ahh, automatic traction control

I think they were really going for the KTM X-bow dedicated t rack toy look. Still a mistake either way.

I mean obviously if you send it fast enough, it won’t matter that it stops accelerating in a corner, but it still helps.
